Respite Support Staff Job Description

The Salvation Army London Village is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Respite Support Staff to join our team. As a Respite Support Staff, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, including assistance with daily living activities, personal care, and recreational activities.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each participant.
  • Collaborate with the Respite Program Supervisor and other team members to ensure seamless care and support.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of participant care and support.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Completed two (2) years of Community College in related education (Developmental Service Worker diploma, Child and Youth Worker diploma or equivalent) in the area of developmental disabilities.
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience, including direct care work in a social service setting; dealing with crises.
Working Conditions:
  • This is a permanent part-time position based on 16 hours x 2 weekends per month.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet program requirements.
  • The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.
  • Some travel is associated with this position.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting, twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, pushing and pulling.
  • Walking and standing for long periods.
  • Some kneeling, running may be required.
