The Salvation Army London Village is seeking a skilled and compassionate Respite Support Staff to join our team. As a Respite Support Staff, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to adults and children with intellectual disabilities and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide physical, emotional, and medical care to program participants, ensuring their needs are met.
- Plan and facilitate recreation and leisure activities, promoting community inclusion and socialization.
- Advocate for participants' health and well-being, liaising with parents, caregivers, and community partners as needed.
- Ensure participants follow personal care routines and daily living tasks, providing intervention for behavioral challenges.
- Transport participants in program vehicles, prepare and distribute meals, and maintain property and program supplies.
- Record daily logs, shift change books, and anecdotal recordings, reporting identified needs to team members and supervisors.
- Completed two years of Community College in a related field (Developmental Service Worker diploma, Child and Youth Worker diploma, or equivalent).
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification and First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Minimum one year of prior related experience, including direct care work in a social service setting.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment, and work independently as part of a team.
- Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and satisfactory driver's abstract.
- Permanent part-time position, 16 hours x 2 weekends per month.
- Flexibility in scheduling required to meet program requirements.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs, frequent lifting, twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Walking and standing for long periods, some kneeling, running may be required.
