About the Role

CD PROJEKT RED is seeking a highly skilled Expert Technical Animator to join our team and contribute to the development of Project Orion, the next major video game in the Cyberpunk franchise. As a key member of our animation team, you will work closely with leads, directors, and engineers to drive the development of our tools and pipelines for animation across characters, vehicles, and weapons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Animation System Development: Design and implement highly optimized animation systems for characters, vehicles, and weapons, ensuring seamless integration with our game engine.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with artists, engineers, and directors to define and document technical animation processes, tools, and best practices, and maintain open communication channels to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Technical Leadership: Mentor junior technical animators, animators, and artists, and contribute to building a culture of creativity, trust, and excellence within the team.
  • Project Estimation and Planning: Work with directors and production to estimate and plan work, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality animation assets.
Requirements
  • Expertise in Animation Tools: Proven experience with rigging in Maya and motion builder, as well as expert-level knowledge of UE5/Blueprint.
  • Strong Technical Skills: Solid portfolio demonstrating expertise in animation, with a focus on character deformation and physics.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Passion for Gaming: Avid and passionate gamer with a deep understanding of the gaming industry and its trends.
Nice to Have
  • Motion Matching Experience: Experience with motion matching and scripting proficiency in languages such as Python, LUA, etc.
  • First-Person AAA Titles: Prior experience working on first-person AAA titles, with a focus on animation and game development.
