About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Baker to join our team at Silver Hills. As a key member of our R&D team, you will be responsible for formulating new and existing products to meet sensory, quality, cost, and manufacturability objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate new and existing products to meet sensory, quality, cost, and manufacturability objectives
  • Coordinate and supervise production batch testing to validate formula and process in the production environment
  • Provide support to the production team to identify and address quality and process issues
  • Maintain detailed, comprehensive records of formulations, process parameters, finished product results, sensory results, and project time
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for formula/process improvement and cost reduction
  • Identify and evaluate ingredients for functionality and suitability
  • Lead or take an ownership role in product commercialization
  • Prepare samples of products as needed to support company presentations
Requirements
  • Journeyman Baker and/or Red Seal designation
  • Prior experience in a commercial bakery or food production facility
  • Strong working knowledge of traditional bakery ingredients and products
  • Understanding of bakery production principles, processes, and equipment
  • Strong baking skills
  • Solid computer skills, including MS Office
