Northwest Territories, Canada Anglo American De Beers Group Full time

Company Overview

Join a team that drives excellence.

As a premier diamond enterprise, we are dedicated to fostering vibrant local communities, safeguarding the environment, and empowering women and girls, all while focusing on sustainable development.

If you are motivated by ambitious goals, excel in decision-making, and appreciate the guidance of industry-leading professionals, we welcome you to explore this opportunity.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Reliability Engineering Superintendent, the Reliability Engineer plays a crucial role in enhancing the dependability of mobile machinery and identifying potential risks that may impact operational efficiency. This is achieved through the implementation of reliability engineering principles within the Asset Management (AM) framework, alongside thorough analysis of physical failures, asset conditions, and component reliability metrics. The Reliability Engineer also prepares business cases to advocate for or assess improvement proposals based on asset lifecycle costs and the benefits of enhancements. This position serves as a technical consultant and resource for the mobile equipment maintenance team. The fast-paced environment demands a results-oriented technical expert who can align with business needs while learning from experiences and providing guidance to colleagues. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive on tackling unique challenges, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and are committed to maintaining safe work practices with a focus on zero harm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Asset Management: Formulate and execute strategies for the reliability and optimization of mining machinery and assets, including hydraulic shovels, haul trucks, dozers, graders, and rock drills.
  • Reliability Assessment: Establish asset criticality and conduct reliability assessments on essential equipment to pinpoint failure modes, root causes, and improvement opportunities. Employ methodologies such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance) to boost asset performance.
  • Condition Monitoring: Develop and manage condition monitoring initiatives to evaluate the health and performance of equipment, utilizing techniques like vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and ultrasonic testing.
  • Data Analysis: Examine data from equipment monitoring systems and historical maintenance records to uncover trends, patterns, and optimization opportunities. Leverage data-driven insights to inform maintenance strategies and equipment enhancements.
  • Maintenance Strategy Development: Create and refine preventive maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance (PdM), and condition-based maintenance (CBM) strategies to maximize equipment availability and minimize unexpected downtime.
  • Defect Elimination and Root Cause Analysis: Coordinate defect elimination activities on-site to develop engineering solutions for recurring failures and issues affecting operations and maintenance.
  • Reliability Improvement Initiatives: Lead or engage in projects aimed at enhancing equipment reliability, availability, and performance, collaborating with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to implement best practices.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of reliability-related activities, including maintenance procedures, equipment histories, and reliability metrics. Prepare reports and presentations to convey key performance indicators and reliability advancements to stakeholders.
  • RAM Analysis: Assist in the procurement of new equipment from an operational readiness and technical standpoint, performing Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) analyses.
  • Risk and Bottleneck Mitigation: Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to identify and address overarching risks and bottlenecks.

Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience in mining, heavy industrial, or process environments.
  • Four (4) years of experience in maintenance or reliability engineering focused on mining equipment.
  • Proficient in reliability analysis techniques such as FMEA, RCM, and RCA.
  • Experience with condition monitoring technologies and tools.
  • Skilled in data and statistical analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in the mining sector.

Additional Information:

Who We Are: As part of a global leader in the diamond industry, we are committed to sustainability and community engagement, with operations across various regions.

Safety: We prioritize the safety, health, and well-being of our employees and the communities we serve.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion: We are dedicated to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace.

Building Forever: Sustainability is central to our operations and decision-making processes.

Referral Incentive: This opportunity includes a referral incentive for internal employees.

Background Checks: Successful candidates will undergo background screening.
