About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Portfolio Manager to join our National Bank team in Vancouver, British Columbia. As a key member of our National Client Group, Western Canada team, you will be responsible for managing and growing an existing portfolio of relationships, working closely with financial advisors, private equity sponsors, and internal banking partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Portfolio Management: Independently manage an assigned portfolio to ensure covenants remain in compliance with agreed upon terms & conditions and that annual reviews are completed in accordance with Bank policies.
  2. Credit Analysis and Underwriting: Perform high-quality credit analysis, deal structuring, underwriting, and documentation review/finalization of existing and new lending opportunities/mandates.
  3. Financial Transaction and Risk Management: Complete financial transaction and borrower risk rating models, and work closely with Credit Risk Management to authorize and close transactions in accordance with the Bank's risk guidelines.
  4. Team Collaboration and Development: Serve as a strong resource within the team and assist in developing the competencies of junior team members, and collaborate with senior members of the National Client Group, Western Canada team.
  5. Transaction and Portfolio Management Experience: Gain hands-on experience underwriting complex transactions and managing an active portfolio, with opportunities for growth and development within the National Client Group, Western Canada team and across the broader Bank.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Hold a Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field.
  2. Professional Designation: Professional designation(s) and/or an advanced degree is considered a strong asset.
  3. Experience: Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in corporate or upper mid-market commercial banking.
  4. Skills: Strong knowledge of credit underwriting, loan structuring (bilateral/syndicated transactions), financial statement analysis, financial model and capital structure assessment, and legal documentation review & negotiation.
  5. Technical Skills: Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) used in the creation of presentations, confidential information memoranda and other written documents.
