Job Summary

The President & COO – Bermuda is a key leadership role responsible for driving the strategic direction and growth of Axcelus' Bermuda-based life insurance companies. This position requires a seasoned executive with a strong track record of building and leading high-performing teams, developing and executing business strategies, and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure Axcelus' Bermuda entities maintain good standing with the Bermuda Monetary Authority and adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements.
  2. Corporate Governance: Oversee compliance functions, large case onboarding protocols, and AML/KYC requirements to ensure the company's good governance practices.
  3. Global GVA Support: Provide onboarding and ongoing servicing support for the global Group Variable Annuity business.
  4. Offshore Business Leadership: Lead the offshore business line and collaborate with the home office to achieve business objectives.
  5. Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with key local service providers and act as Director and Officer of Axcelus Bermuda entities.
  6. Regulatory Filings: Oversee and review regulatory filings to ensure compliance with all relevant requirements.
  7. Risk Management: Ensure appropriate risk management and controls are in place and adhered to.
  8. Team Support: Provide support and resources to the Bermuda team to enable them to meet the demands of the office and achieve scale.
  9. Budget Planning: Play a critical role in the budget planning and financial oversight of the Bermuda carriers.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and execute a vision.
  2. Financial Services Experience: Experience working with high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients and their representatives.
  3. Leadership Skills: Proven leadership ability and ability to lead and develop a strong team.
  4. Communication Skills: Highly developed communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  5. Bermuda Regulatory Knowledge: Experience and knowledge of the Bermuda regulatory environment and strong understanding of Bermuda corporate governance requirements.
  6. International Experience: Substantial international experience in financial services.
  7. Education: BA/BS degree.
  8. Experience: 10+ years of experience required.
