Primary Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Medicine Physician to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide comprehensive primary care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with a team of healthcare professionals, including family physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and social workers.
Responsibilities will include:
- Providing comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
- Being accountable for appropriate workload and practice
- Continuum of patient care with healthcare providers within your practice and/or community
- Providing care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level healthcare
- Building to capacity within the first two years
- Operating within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Nova Scotia Health Authority
- Working toward same day or next day access for the practice population
- Working in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community's health needs
- Working with other providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when required
- Participating in quality improvement and evaluation activities
- Utilizing an electronic medical record (EMR) and recording all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team members
The successful candidate will be expected to work full-time, with the option to work locum if desired.
QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have:
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- Eligibility for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Emergency department experience is an asset
- College of Family Physicians of Canada ER certification would be considered an asset
