The York Region District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Counsellor to join our team. As a key member of our school community, the successful candidate will provide specialized support to students, teachers, and families to promote academic success, social-emotional well-being, and mental health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counselling services to students, addressing a range of issues including anxiety, social skills, and emotional regulation.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement instructional strategies that support student learning and well-being.
- Develop and deliver training programs for teachers and staff on topics such as mental health, trauma-informed practice, and social-emotional learning.
- Conduct assessments and develop plans to support students with diverse needs, including those with mental health concerns.
- Work with families and community agencies to provide support and resources for students and families.
- Track and evaluate the effectiveness of counselling services and make recommendations for program improvement.
- Comply with provincial regulations and board policies related to student records, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Counselling or a related field.
- Experience working with students, teachers, and families in a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of child development, mental health, and educational theory.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
