Role Summary

The Programs & Services Officer within the Student Life & Learning Support Centre is essential in enhancing student participation and academic achievement through the management and execution of various support programs and services.

This role involves engaging with both Student Life and the Learning Support Centre, overseeing a range of activities and events while mentoring student staff at the Institute for Applied Health Science campus. The successful candidate will exhibit strong intercultural skills and a dedication to creating inclusive and welcoming events that align with the College's values of equity, diversity, and inclusion, including adherence to Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage program administration, including data tracking and reporting; oversee the recruitment, selection, and training of student leaders and peer tutors; and handle marketing, promotion, and event planning.

Daily Operations and Reporting

  • Oversee the daily functions of departmental services, including planning and executing events, addressing inquiries, and managing promotional initiatives.
  • Collaborate with service areas to ensure effective service delivery and facilitate professional development for student leaders.
  • Engage with faculty to align services with academic needs.
  • Regularly update program content to reflect current needs.
  • Organize operational documents and procedures.
  • Coordinate data collection processes and prepare reports on service usage and outcomes.
  • Support the evaluation of tutoring services.
  • Assist with Student Life programming, including Orientation and Leadership initiatives.
  • Provide feedback and reporting to management regarding events and programming.

Recruitment and Training

  • Plan and coordinate recruitment campaigns for peer leaders and student staff.
  • Assist in the hiring process for student staff each semester.
  • Work with management to identify program needs and develop tutoring services.

Coordination of Student Staff

  • Facilitate training for student staff in collaboration with service partners.
  • Coordinate work schedules to ensure adequate service provision.
  • Provide ongoing guidance to student leaders and peer tutors.
  • Manage the schedule for departmental program delivery.

Marketing and Event Coordination

  • Develop promotional materials for programs and services in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Update content for college webpages.
  • Support marketing efforts for training events organized by other departments.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a three-year post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of post-secondary education systems and student support services.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working independently and solving diverse problems.
  • Commitment to human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Ability to effectively engage with a diverse community.
