Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Academic Specialist in Nuclear Medicine to join our esteemed Department of Medical Imaging at McMaster University. This role offers a full-time faculty position, with the potential for renewal based on performance and departmental needs.

Employer: McMaster University, in collaboration with Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, is committed to providing comprehensive nuclear medicine services, encompassing both therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in a wide array of nuclear medicine services, including therapeutic interventions such as Ra-223 and Iodine-131.
  • Participate in cutting-edge research trials, including Lu-177 PSMA and Lu-177 Dotatate therapy programs.
  • Contribute to a robust nuclear cardiology program, performing stress testing and interpretation of studies.
  • Conduct general nuclear medicine studies, including I-123 MIBG for neuroendocrine and pediatric oncology.
  • Oversee and participate in the annual performance of over 4,000 PET scans for cardiac and oncologic purposes.

Clinical Engagement: The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Department, actively participating in both therapeutic and diagnostic nuclear medicine, including cardiac stress testing.

Academic Contributions: The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for education, contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in nuclear medicine.

Compensation and Benefits: Members of the department will share fee-for-service billings in accordance with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Schedule of Benefits. An academic alternate funding plan is also in place, along with a comprehensive benefits program for full-time faculty.

Qualifications: Candidates should possess certification (or be eligible for certification) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must hold a valid license (or be eligible for licensure) in Ontario. Consideration will be given to those with American Board of Nuclear Medicine certification. Dual-trained candidates in Nuclear Medicine/Diagnostic Radiology will be evaluated on an individual basis, with an emphasis on the ability to provide a full spectrum of nuclear medicine services.
