Key Competencies:
The Independent Adjuster plays a vital role in managing claims while maximizing business development prospects. This involves timely marketing and follow-up on opportunities. The responsibilities create a dynamic portfolio requiring exceptional organizational skills to ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently while advancing file management processes.
To excel in this position, the ideal candidate should possess a background in Casualty and Bodily Injury claims, along with the following competencies:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive).
- Strong verbal communication skills, including listening, interviewing, negotiating, and adapting communication styles to various audiences.
- Demonstrated organizational abilities to prioritize and manage competing demands effectively.
- Proactive and positive customer service approach, ensuring timely resolution of inquiries.
- Strong analytical skills to identify cause-and-effect relationships.
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to handle conflicts and challenging situations effectively.
- Aptitude for drawing valid conclusions and communicating them clearly.
- Capability to interpret complex legal documents and perform advanced numerical analyses.
Qualifications & Experience:
- University degree or relevant post-secondary education in insurance is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field.
- CIP designation or progress towards it is advantageous.
- Combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Prior experience in claims adjusting is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of third-party liability claims.
- Experience conducting detailed interviews with all parties involved in the claims process.
- Ability to review and interpret policies to confirm coverage and conduct liability investigations.
- Proficient in maintaining accurate and detailed file documentation.
- Strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
Note: Preference will be given to candidates holding a CIP designation or qualifying for a probationary license or higher.
