Position Overview:

We are seeking a proactive Liability Claims Adjuster to join our dynamic team and contribute to the growth of our Canadian operations. This role is ideal for an insurance professional eager to tackle new challenges and enhance our claims management capabilities.

As a Liability Claims Adjuster, you will manage a diverse range of in-house claims, focusing primarily on automobile and general liability. Your responsibilities will include reviewing reports from independent adjusters and legal experts to determine coverage, assess damages, and ensure compliance with company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough analysis, investigation, and evaluation of claims to determine coverage and resolution strategies.
  • Establish and regularly review reserves for indemnity and expenses, ensuring adequacy and compliance.
  • Identify and report on claim trends and policy issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in negotiations, mediations, and market meetings to facilitate claim resolutions.
  • Engage with brokers, risk managers, and reinsurers to support claims marketing efforts.
  • Oversee claims managed by independent adjusters to uphold Liberty Mutual's quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma (experience may substitute for education).
  • 2-3 years of relevant claims experience, particularly in auto and general liability.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or those actively pursuing it.
  • Strong understanding of claims handling principles, including coverage issues and product knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate analytical, decision-making, and negotiation abilities.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20% within the region.
