Canada Software Secured Full time

Is this position the right fit for you?

Employment Type: Full-time

Software Secured stands as a premier provider of Penetration Testing as a Service (PTaaS), headquartered in Ottawa, Canada. Our mission is to empower software development teams to stay ahead of cyber threats through a comprehensive range of cybersecurity solutions and products.

As a Business Development Representative / Junior Account Executive at Software Secured, your primary responsibility will be to assess inbound, partner, and referral leads, engage with potential clients, consult on their penetration testing strategies, and instill confidence in qualified buyers regarding our expertise.

Our focus is on assisting startups, scale-ups, and small to medium-sized businesses in adhering to industry-specific Governance, Risk, and Compliance frameworks (such as SOC 2, ISO27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA, etc.), demonstrating security maturity to enterprise clients with stringent requirements, and ensuring the protection of their most sensitive assets. This role is pivotal in expanding our sales team and driving company growth through new business acquisition.

We seek an experienced Sales Development Representative eager to be trained as a top-tier Account Executive in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research, qualify, nurture, and schedule calls with leads from various channels (primarily partner, inbound, and referral; some outbound activities may be included during peak periods).
  • Utilize existing call scripts, email sequences, and LinkedIn outreach strategies while collaborating with the Account Executive and Head of Sales to monitor results and enhance messaging.
  • Observe pentest planning, proposal evaluations, and closing meetings with the goal of leading these discussions after achieving SDR performance metrics in two successful quarters.
  • Develop communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders, including both technical and non-technical buyers, focusing initially on startups and gradually supporting scale-ups and SMBs.
  • Commit to continuous learning about security compliance and SaaS security through company-provided and external resources.
  • Establish value based on client business objectives to secure meetings, gain access to decision-makers, and create urgency through a consultative approach.
  • Regularly research existing partners' websites and social media for new service offerings, challenges, and strategic directions, documenting findings in the CRM.
  • Generate reports to assist the Head of Sales, Account Executive, and CEO in enhancing sales operations upon request.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of activities and consistently update the CRM (HubSpot).
  • Engage in strategy discussions and operational tactics aimed at increasing bookings, deal sizes, and reducing closing times.
  • Utilize Qwilr Software for proposal and Statement of Work preparation.
  • Provide weekly updates to the Head of Sales regarding progress, obstacles, and opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Consultative Mindset: Our customers value our expertise. As a future SDR/Junior AE, you must demonstrate your ability to learn about pentesting and compliance, answer inquiries from technical stakeholders, and build trust. We are interested in understanding how you have achieved and surpassed your sales KPIs over the past two years.
  • Results-Oriented: This role involves significant context switching and multitasking. The SDR/Junior AE must exhibit speed, agility, and strategic execution, with 2-4 years of full-time work experience, preferably in a B2B setting.
  • Receptive to Coaching: Software Secured has a lean sales team, providing access to Sales and Executive leadership. The ability to accept feedback and apply it to sales efforts immediately has been instrumental in enhancing deal sizes, closing ratios, and reducing sales cycles while maintaining process integrity. We expect you to take ownership of a quota after your first quarter.
  • Prepared to Navigate a Complex Buying Process: Our clients are focused on building and maintaining security compliance programs while managing product development and cash flow. They deserve respect and understanding. We engage with CTOs, vCISOs, Directors of Engineering, CEOs, CFOs, and Security & Compliance Officers, requiring you to establish credibility to ensure their investment in Software Secured is validated. An interest in cybersecurity, compliance, and the role of pentesting in scaling tech startups will distinguish you.
  • Startup Experience: As a growing organization, we consistently aim for a 50% increase in revenue year over year, as the market demands authentic penetration testing from a dedicated team of Canadian cybersecurity professionals. You should possess resilience, initiative, and the ability to adapt as we develop processes in a dynamic environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Accurate documentation is crucial; if it’s not in HubSpot, it’s not real. We require you to track your progress in our CRM, manage repetitive tasks efficiently, and facilitate Sales Operations activities (Proposals and SOWs) while collaborating across multiple Canadian time zones in a hybrid remote setting; experience with HubSpot is highly preferred.

This position is currently available only to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or work visa holders.

We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and encourage individuals from various backgrounds to apply and contribute to our culture.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base salary ($60K base, OTE $105K), uncapped commission, and a team that values your work-life balance (no excessive work hours).
  • Remote work flexibility within Canada (with the option to work from the Ottawa office as desired).
  • Ability to work remotely from anywhere globally for up to two months each year.
  • Annual profit-sharing ranging from 7% to 12% of your base salary, contingent on performance.
  • Additional perks, including a monthly UberEats budget and an annual home office stipend.
  • Three weeks of vacation to start, plus a company-wide break between Christmas and New Year.
  • Parental, bereavement, and child loss leave.
  • A complimentary Audible account.

Our Core Values:

  • Passion for Security: Security and privacy are paramount. We prioritize these in all business decisions to contribute to a safer digital world.
  • Growth Mindset: Security is an evolving field. Through curiosity, continuous learning, and humility, we strive to stay ahead.
  • Determination: We embrace tough challenges as opportunities for improvement, innovation, and solution creation.
  • Integrity: Integrity is the foundation of our actions. We are honest, straightforward, and committed to doing what is right, even when unobserved.

Experience a new approach to penetration testing that prioritizes quality without the complexities of traditional methods.

We assist organizations in identifying, understanding, and addressing their security vulnerabilities, ensuring peace of mind for their teams.
