About the Role

The City of Calgary is dedicated to providing exceptional public services and fostering a diverse and inclusive community. As a Recreation Programmer, you'll play a crucial role in delivering impactful programs that enrich the lives of children and youth across various locations, including City Pools, Leisure Centres, Parks, and Community Partner sites.

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with program staff to develop and execute engaging program plans.
  • Lead training sessions for leaders and instructors, ensuring they are well-equipped to deliver high-quality programs.
  • Contribute to the planning of recreation programs that promote social development and skill acquisition.
  • Serve as a positive role model, mentoring and guiding participants and volunteers.
  • Prioritize participant safety and supervision at all times.
  • Manage equipment and supplies inventory efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide valuable program feedback.
  • Respond to inquiries from customers and provide information to interested individuals.
  • Actively participate in program activities as needed, contributing to a positive and enriching experience for participants.

Your Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of relevant experience is necessary.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with no more than six demerits.
  • Access to a personal vehicle for work purposes is essential.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Windows software is an asset.
  • Experience working with diverse populations is highly valued.
  • Previous training in relevant fields is beneficial.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills are crucial.
  • Sound judgment in safety standards and excellent customer service skills are required.
