Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Recreation Leader to join our team at the Town of Banff. As a Recreation Leader, you will be responsible for delivering programs, events, and drop-in activities that promote the health and well-being of children, youth, and adults.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain programs with a focus on lesson plans that ensure engaging, fun, and safe activities for participants of various ages, stages, and abilities.
  • Work with participants, partners, volunteers, parents, program funders, and colleagues through various communication methods and settings.
  • Exceptional interaction and communication skills to achieve understanding of children and youth, to parents and adults, to co-workers and external partners.
  • Blend physical literacy, life skill-building, and social and nature connection with diligent tracking and report requirements.
  • Engage residents to participate in community recreation programs by building trust, knowledge, and anticipation and excitement in the experience of recreation.
Requirements

We are looking for a qualified leader who has completed a post-secondary program in recreation, social work, childhood studies, education, physical education, and/or leadership. A combination of education with at least one hundred hours of work experience with children and youth, demonstrating the responsibilities listed above, will be considered. You will be required to provide confirmation of current First Aid certification and an RCMP criminal background check with vulnerable sector clearance.
