Job Title: Recreation Programmer, On-Call

Job Summary:

The Recreation Programmer, On-Call will be responsible for planning, leading, and evaluating recreation programs and activities for children, youth, and adults. This includes developing program plans, facilitating program delivery, and ensuring program quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement recreation programs and activities that meet the needs of diverse populations.
  • Lead and facilitate program delivery, ensuring program quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with program staff, community partners, and stakeholders to develop and implement program plans.
  • Conduct program evaluations and make recommendations for program improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with City of Calgary policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • A completed High School diploma or equivalency (for example: GED) is required.
  • At least 1 year of direct experience in recreation and social programs, leadership, and/or volunteer development, coaching, mentoring, volunteering, practicum, post-secondary education, or related is required.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits OR a Class 5 Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits, and no current charges or suspension pending is required.
  • Access to a personal vehicle for work is required.
  • Ability to obtain The City of Calgary operator's permit may be required for some positions.
Working Conditions:

The Recreation Programmer, On-Call will work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines. The position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
