Position Overview:

We are expanding our team and are looking for an Environmental Project Coordinator to join our Remediation division in Edmonton. In this role, you will lead efforts to remediate contaminated upstream oil and gas sites, collaborating closely with a dedicated team of engineering specialists and technical staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within a team environment, working alongside Project Coordinators, fellow Project Managers, Senior Project Directors, and Field Technicians/Scientists/Engineers.
  • Develop Health and Safety plans as well as Emergency Response strategies.
  • Prepare project proposals and cost estimates, schedule field personnel and subcontractors, and compile data for comprehensive reports, including conclusions and recommendations.
  • Manage project accounting and ensure compliance with reporting requirements as outlined in WSP's Master Services Agreements.
  • Mentor junior staff in environmental practices, including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), drilling, surveying, groundwater sampling, and remediation oversight, along with site-specific health and safety protocols.
  • Engage with clients to ensure their needs are met and that projects and proposals progress smoothly, while collaborating with team members to provide necessary support for project completion.
  • Support other members of the Contaminated Sites Management Group by sharing responsibilities related to health and safety, project management, project completion, and client service.

Required Qualifications:

  • A university degree in engineering or natural/earth sciences.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in contaminated site assessments and conceptual site models for upstream oil and gas sites.
  • A solid understanding of health and safety protocols in the workplace, coupled with a safety-conscious mindset.
  • Strong field experience and a willingness to engage in fieldwork as required.
  • Familiarity with Alberta Environmental regulations, including Tier 1 and Tier 2 guidelines.
  • Professional designation is preferred.
