Your Opportunity:

This position is part of the Overdose Prevention Site, providing harm reduction and supervised consumption services in Lethbridge. The site is located outside of the Alpha House shelter, offering a range of evidence-based services to support prevention, harm reduction, and treatment for Albertans living with substance use challenges.

Job Summary:

As a Primary Care Paramedic, you will be part of the OPS team, supporting clients coping with addictions and working through case management in a multidisciplinary team. You will provide assessment, evaluation, and oversight of patient care, helping to navigate clients in crisis and reduce impacts on individuals, families, and the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide emergency service and paramedic interventions within a harm reduction model at a supervised consumption site.
  • Conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments, delivering harm reduction supplies and supervised consumption clinical interventions.
  • Offer education, naloxone distribution, and other health education and support through the Safeworks program.
  • Perform immunizations, distribute safer sex and drug use supplies, and provide basic wound care.
Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited Primary Care Paramedic program.
  • Active registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) as Primary Care Paramedic.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (test taken no more than six months from the application date).
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in harm reduction opioid treatment is preferred.
