Your Opportunity:
This position is part of the Overdose Prevention Site, providing harm reduction and supervised consumption services in Lethbridge. The site is located outside of the Alpha House shelter, offering a range of evidence-based services to support prevention, harm reduction, and treatment for Albertans living with substance use challenges. As a Primary Care Paramedic, you will be part of the OPS, supporting clients coping with addictions and working through case management in a multidisciplinary team. This position will provide assessment, evaluation, and oversight of patient care, helping navigate clients in crisis to reduce impacts on individuals, families, and the community.
Description:
As an EMT Supervised Consumption Services, you will provide emergency service and paramedic interventions within a harm reduction model at a supervised consumption site. The role includes comprehensive physical and mental health assessments, delivery of harm reduction supplies, supervised consumption clinical interventions, and education. You will also provide support to the team in Advanced Airway Management and work closely with other services in supporting and coordinating care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emergency service and paramedic interventions within a harm reduction model
- Conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments
- Deliver harm reduction supplies and provide supervised consumption clinical interventions
- Provide education and support through the Safeworks program
- Work closely with other services in supporting and coordinating care
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Primary Care Paramedic program
- Active registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) as Primary Care Paramedic
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
- Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (test taken no more than six months from the application date)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in harm reduction opioid treatment
