About the Position:
We are seeking an Environmental Coordinator to become a vital part of our dedicated team focused on innovative environmental solutions at one of Canada's distinctive mine sites undergoing active closure. This role is pivotal in ensuring adherence to regulatory standards set by Provincial and Federal legislation, particularly in the areas of site water management and dam oversight. The successful candidate will also contribute to waste management efforts and the maintenance of the Environmental Management System on-site, while engaging with Indigenous groups and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and uphold health and safety protocols and policies.
  • Oversee water management initiatives and daily operations to ensure compliance with legal requirements and approvals, collaborating with operational and maintenance teams for effective field execution.
  • Manage dam operations and monitoring at the site.
  • Assist in maintaining the Environmental Management System.
  • Support waste management strategies, including contaminated site management, to ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
  • Contribute to sustainability initiatives.
  • Provide oversight and management for external consultants and contract teams.
  • Prepare detailed reports, applications, and submissions for both internal and governmental stakeholders.
  • Foster positive relationships with Indigenous groups and other community stakeholders, ensuring commitments are met.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to five years of experience in environmental management, particularly in water and dam management.
  • Experience in project management, contaminated site remediation, and waste management is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with environmental data management software (GIS/EQuIS) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and provincial environmental laws and policies is beneficial.
