Reliability Optimization Specialist

About the Role:

West Fraser is seeking a highly skilled Reliability Optimization Specialist to join our team in Hinton, Alberta. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a critical role in improving mill operation by investigating failures and proposing improvements, analyzing data and historical information to develop optimal maintenance strategies, and providing expertise to build reliability programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Failure Investigation and Analysis:
    • Conduct thorough reviews of major equipment or process failures to identify root causes and propose corrective actions.
    • Identify recurring problems or trends and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Utilize data and analytical techniques to inform decision-making and drive improvement initiatives.
  • Data Collection and Analysis:
    • Collect and analyze data from mill systems to inform maintenance and operational decisions.
    • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support Maintenance and Engineering Activities:
    • Troubleshoot equipment issues and provide technical expertise to maintenance and engineering teams.
    • Develop and implement maintenance procedures and guidelines to ensure optimal equipment performance.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement reliability programs.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve mill operations and reduce downtime.
    • Collaborate with vendors and training providers to stay current on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with West Fraser peers and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience:
    • Completion of a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree from an accredited university.
    • Technologists with a Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology with relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Basic understanding of statistics and data analysis.
    • Experience working in industrial or production facilities.
    • Ability to learn and understand MDF production processes and other facility systems.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
