We are seeking Weekend Relief Community Shelter Workers to join our team at Homes First, a non-profit agency providing housing and support to individuals who have experienced chronic homelessness.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support and assistance to residents in our shelters, ensuring their basic needs are met and they have access to essential services.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe and respectful environment in the shelter.
- Assist with daily operations, including meal service, cleaning, and maintenance of shelter facilities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with residents, understanding their individual needs and providing guidance and support as required.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed care.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset.
- Previous experience working in a shelter or social services setting an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
- First Aid and CPR certification an asset.
