Be a Supportive Presence in the Lives of Deafblind Individuals
Sensity Deafblind and Sensory Support Network of Canada is seeking a skilled Support Worker to join our team in Paris, ON. As an Intervenor, you will play a vital role in supporting communication and daily living for individuals who are deafblind, enabling them to live independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support individuals in their home and community environments, promoting independence and confidence.
- Use effective communication techniques to relay information and empower individuals to participate in daily activities.
- Assist with personal care, including lifts and transfers, toileting, and medication administration, as required.
- Develop and support individual goals and objectives, promoting personal growth and fulfillment.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure comprehensive support and care for individuals.
Requirements:
- Completion of a college diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program or a related human services field.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors.
- Strong communication skills, including American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Exact English (SEE).
- A valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean current driver's abstract.
