Bakery Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Bakery Assistant to join our team at 98 Street Your Independent Grocer. As a key member of our bakery team, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of breads, pastries, and cakes to meet the high standards of our customers.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare dough for pies, bread, rolls, and sweet goods, batters for muffins, cookies, and cakes, and icings and frostings according to recipes or special customer orders.
- Requisition or order materials, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Bake mixed dough and batters to meet production schedules.
- Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food.
- Prepare special orders and ensure that all products meet established quality standards.
- Frost and decorate cakes and baked goods as required.
- Draw up production schedules to ensure efficient use of time and resources.
- Inspect kitchen and food service areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Organize and maintain inventory levels to prevent stockouts and overstocking.
- Oversee sales and merchandising of baked goods to meet sales targets.
- Ability to distinguish between colors.
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Manual dexterity and ability to handle heavy loads.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Reliability and dependability in a team environment.
