Position Overview

The University of British Columbia is seeking a dedicated Clinical Research Scientist to join our esteemed research team within the Division of Neurology in the Department of Medicine.

Role Summary

This position offers an opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research aimed at understanding and improving the lives of individuals affected by chronic neurological conditions, particularly Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The successful candidate will collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, engaging in interdisciplinary research that seeks to advance knowledge in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement research initiatives, collaborating closely with the Principal Investigator and team members to ensure effective study planning and execution.
  • Conduct data analysis and interpretation, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of research findings.
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals to secure funding for ongoing and future research projects.
  • Develop comprehensive reports and manuscripts for publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present research findings at academic meetings and conferences, contributing to the broader scientific community.
  • Mentor and supervise trainees and students involved in related research projects.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and collaborative discussions to foster a productive research environment.

Qualifications

  • A PhD or MD in a relevant field, such as epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, or applied biostatistics.
  • Demonstrated experience working with chronic disease populations and large health-related datasets.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, SAS, R) and advanced research methodologies.
  • A proven track record of publishing in reputable scientific journals and securing research funding.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team setting.
