Job Summary:

The Occupational Health Nurse is a key member of the People Health team at Trillium Health Partners, responsible for delivering high-quality occupational health services and programs. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support a healthy and safe work environment for all employees.
  • Provide clinical assessments and support for employees with occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries.
  • Develop and implement modified work plans in collaboration with leadership and employees.
  • Collaborate with key partners, including staff, human resources, leadership, and union representatives, to promote a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Provide health intake, assessment, and support for illness and injury reporting.
  • Complete health assessments and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • Manage and implement the organization's surveillance program, ensuring compliance with all legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of health records and statistical data.
  • Liaise with government agencies, service providers, and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal recovery and regulatory compliance.
  • Encourage and integrate preventative measures to support the mind, body, and spirit of employees.
  • Facilitate and deliver preventative education programs and participate in the development and evaluation of education materials.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse, in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing with expectation to obtain certification in Occupational Health Nursing Canada (COHN(C)) within 2 years.
  • Member of the Ontario Occupational Health Nurses Association (an asset).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience with conducting health assessments over the phone or telehealth (an asset).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Human Rights Code, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Public Hospitals Act, and AODA.
  • Understanding of Public Health Ontario, Ministry of Health, and surveillance protocols related to communicable diseases.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a positive experience through professionalism, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress.
  • Demonstrated ability to show empathy and compassion.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability for critical thinking and sound judgment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Manages priorities effectively.
  • Experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Excellent computer skills with various software, including EPIC, Office 365, and Parklane.
  • Experience with case management and contact tracing of COVID-19 or other communicable diseases (an asset).
  • Ability to facilitate and lead group discussions and implement feedback into practice.
  • As part of a dynamic team of professionals, must be a flexible team player with the ability to work independently and as a team.
