Position Overview
Trillium Health Partners is proud to introduce a pioneering First Responder Mental Health Initiative. As a vital member of our multidisciplinary assessment and treatment team, the Occupational Therapist (OT) will be instrumental in the evaluation, triage, and rehabilitation of individuals referred to our services. Collaborating with psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health professionals, and kinesiologists, the OT will assess client needs to facilitate a comprehensive functional recovery while coordinating with external healthcare providers and insurers for a seamless transition back to the community.
This role emphasizes close collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and fellow clinicians to deliver a high-quality, evidence-driven program aimed at restoring clients' functionality and minimizing impairment and disability within an innovative framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in interprofessional assessments to identify psychological impairments and formulate treatment and return-to-work (RTW) recommendations.
- Deliver both individual and group therapy as part of a collaborative team.
- Participate in interdisciplinary discussions to address challenging cases and devise effective solutions.
- Prepare comprehensive clinical reports to support case management efforts.
- Collaborate with external entities, including insurers and employers.
Educational Qualifications:
- Must be registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
- Provide Occupational Therapy services in accordance with the College's guidelines and Essential Competencies for clients experiencing occupational performance deficits.
- Membership with the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of clinical experience working with adults facing common psychological disorders such as Depression, Anxiety, and PTSD.
Required Skills and Attributes:
- Strong mental health expertise with proficiency in delivering prolonged exposure therapy.
- Familiarity with various trauma treatment approaches.
- Proven ability to work effectively within an interprofessional framework.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated capability to engage effectively with clients and external stakeholders.
- Flexibility and willingness to undertake diverse tasks to ensure the program's smooth operation.
- Competence in balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders and achieving evidence-informed outcomes.
- Ability to adapt to change and manage unexpected situations effectively.
- Strong organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills.
- Experience in providing services with a focus on quality improvement for third-party payers is advantageous.
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement and program evaluation.
- Contribution to the overarching vision and mission of the program.
- Supervision of students as necessary.
