Culinary Specialist

About the Role:
As a vital member of our culinary team, the Cook plays an essential role in enhancing the dining experience for our residents at Aspira Royale Place Retirement Living. Your contributions will foster a sense of community and connection through the art of food.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and organize equipment and ingredients for meal preparation.
- Cook meals and snacks following established recipes and production guidelines.
- Ensure meals meet dietary requirements and are served at the correct temperatures and portion sizes.
- Oversee the quality of food supplies and report any issues to the team leader, providing suggestions for improvement.
- In the absence of the team leader, manage kitchen operations, including menu adjustments and inventory procurement.
- Assist in training and onboarding new kitchen staff.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Grade 12 education.
- Completion of a recognized culinary program and willingness to obtain Red Seal certification.
- At least one year of experience in large-scale food preparation, catering, or event cooking.
- Possession of a valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and Smart Serve certification.
- A positive attitude and commitment to meeting the standards of our community.
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check for Ontario applicants and a Criminal Records Check for British Columbia applicants.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in large quantity food preparation within health care, long-term care, or retirement settings.
- Red Seal designation is an asset.
