Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Permanent Part-Time Culinary Specialist. This role is vital within our community, as it significantly influences the lives of our residents and fosters meaningful connections.

Key Responsibilities:
Your daily activities will include:
  • Preparing and organizing equipment and supplies for meal preparation.
  • Cooking meals and snacks in accordance with provided recipes and production sheets.
  • Ensuring meals meet dietary requirements, served at the correct temperatures and portion sizes.
  • Evaluating the quality of food supplies received and reporting any issues to the team leader, along with suggestions for corrective measures.
  • In the absence of the team leader, overseeing departmental operations, including menu adjustments and procurement of food and supplies.
  • Assisting in the training and orientation of new staff members.
  • Participating in in-service training sessions.
  • Carrying out additional tasks as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Grade 12 education.
  • Completion of a recognized culinary program and willingness to obtain Red Seal certification.
  • At least one year of experience in large-scale food preparation, catering, or event cooking.
  • A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and Smart Serve certification.
  • A positive attitude that aligns with the goals and standards of our community.
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check for Ontario applicants.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Records Check for British Columbia applicants.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in large-scale food preparation within Health, Long Term Care, or Retirement Living settings.
  • Possession of a Red Seal Designation.
