Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Permanent Part-Time Culinary Specialist. This role is vital within our community, as it significantly influences the lives of our residents and fosters meaningful connections.
Key Responsibilities:
Your daily activities will include:
- Preparing and organizing equipment and supplies for meal preparation.
- Cooking meals and snacks in accordance with provided recipes and production sheets.
- Ensuring meals meet dietary requirements, served at the correct temperatures and portion sizes.
- Evaluating the quality of food supplies received and reporting any issues to the team leader, along with suggestions for corrective measures.
- In the absence of the team leader, overseeing departmental operations, including menu adjustments and procurement of food and supplies.
- Assisting in the training and orientation of new staff members.
- Participating in in-service training sessions.
- Carrying out additional tasks as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of Grade 12 education.
- Completion of a recognized culinary program and willingness to obtain Red Seal certification.
- At least one year of experience in large-scale food preparation, catering, or event cooking.
- A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and Smart Serve certification.
- A positive attitude that aligns with the goals and standards of our community.
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check for Ontario applicants.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Records Check for British Columbia applicants.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in large-scale food preparation within Health, Long Term Care, or Retirement Living settings.
- Possession of a Red Seal Designation.
