Position Overview

We are seeking a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer with extensive responsibilities, collaborating across Engineering, Suppliers, Purchasing, and Manufacturing teams to establish and execute supplier quality engineering processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization. This role is crucial in implementing and maintaining Harbinger's quality management system (QMS) and enhancing the quality of our operational processes and outputs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement supplier quality standards and supporting processes.
  • Inspect and test materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and evaluations to verify adherence to quality standards.
  • Plan and execute supplier audits to evaluate their quality systems and capabilities.
  • Provide quality-related input during the supplier selection process.
  • Lead weekly discussions with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality parts for production.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance metrics, including defect rates and delivery compliance.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and collaborate with suppliers to implement corrective actions.
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues associated with supplier materials and components.
  • Work with suppliers to identify root causes of defects and establish corrective and preventive measures.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance supplier quality and performance.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to adopt lean manufacturing practices and other quality enhancement methodologies.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier quality performance, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Stay informed about changes in industry standards affecting supplier quality.
  • Lead supplier audits, APQP, PPAP, Gauge R&R, and safe launch activities.
  • Participate in design reviews to mitigate manufacturing and assembly risks.
  • Lead MRB meetings and serve as a quality representative for the engineering change control board.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing) or a related technical field.
  • 3 - 7 years of experience in manufacturing quality or supplier quality engineering, preferably in the automotive or aerospace industry.
  • Preferred ASQ Certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Manager, or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Familiarity with ISO-9001:2018 or IATF 16949 standards is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of essential quality core tools such as Quality Management Systems, Supplier and Internal Audits, APQP, SPC, PPAP, FMEA, and MSA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient project management skills with the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Solid understanding of electrical components and assembly processes.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30 to 50%.
  • Proven experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing or production setting.
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and tools.
  • Experience in supplier quality management, including auditing and performance evaluation.
  • Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS) and relevant software applications.
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer) is a plus.
