Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced retail professional to join our team as an Assistant Store Manager. As a key member of the store leadership team, you will be responsible for assisting the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation and management of the store, ensuring a high level of customer service and driving business results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive shopping experience for all customers.
  • Work closely with the Store Manager and other department managers to execute strategies and achieve business objectives.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, providing coaching, training, and feedback to ensure excellent customer service and sales results.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, and merchandising to ensure a high level of product availability and visual appeal.
  • Participate in community events and promote Farm Boy's commitment to the local community.
  • Support the Store Manager in the implementation of health and safety programs and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Typically requires completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible managerial experience in retail, preferably in the perishable food industry.
  • Successful completion of a Public Health Food Handler certification, Smart Serve plus Level A First Aid and Basic CPR certification, or the commitment to complete within 6 months.
  • Good knowledge of retail industry, food products, and superior standards of quality.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to learn manual and automated systems/tools.
  • Experience in working with various computer software programs, including Microsoft Office.

Work Environment

  • Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
  • Required to stand and walk for long periods of time during shift.
  • Required to lift, carry, or handle heavy objects.
  • Required to adapt to temperature changes on occasion (working on the retail floor as well as in coolers and freezers).
