Role Overview
The Director of Global Governance and Controls plays a pivotal role within the GBM Internal Control team. This position is instrumental in steering the group's transformation agenda by leading and supporting the management of global initiatives and projects. The incumbent will ensure that changes are implemented following a defined methodology and standards, aligned with the global operational framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with regional internal control teams, GBM business stakeholders, and risk partners to facilitate the local and global rollout of programs and projects aimed at enhancing control processes, procedures, and tools.
- Support the Director of Global Governance and Controls in addressing ad-hoc requests and initiatives, ensuring global consistency and sustainability of solutions when applicable.
- Assist in evaluating escalated issues and, under the Director's guidance, collaborate with key stakeholders on remediation and effective solutions.
- Utilize project management skills to ensure that changes are managed through a defined lifecycle, complete with appropriate governance, documentation, and reporting.
- Contribute to the execution of the GBM Internal Controls strategy and advance the business's transformation agenda.
- Lead governance forums, including meetings and working groups, related to the project portfolio.
- Keep senior management informed to facilitate effective decision-making.
- Prioritize tasks effectively within and across the work portfolio.
- Communicate clearly and effectively about the Internal Controls mandate globally, understanding its integration within the broader business and regulatory landscape.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Business or Finance.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Capital Markets, with a focus on Compliance, Operations, or relevant audit/regulatory experience across various product and business areas.
- Familiarity with Canadian and global capital markets.
- Strong understanding of Risk Management frameworks and associated policies.
- Experience managing regulatory and cross-functional change initiatives within a Banking context.
- Knowledge of regulatory governance and the three lines of defense model.
- Demonstrated judgment and business acumen, particularly in escalation and prioritization.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to meet deliverables while operating under tight deadlines.
- Leadership experience in team or project management settings.
- Capacity to balance competing goals from various departments and stakeholders.
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment under pressure.
Work Arrangement:
This role currently operates in a hybrid model, requiring at least 3 days a week in the office, subject to business needs.
