The Team
The Litigation Group comprises a dedicated team of approximately 180 professionals who engage in legal proceedings and offer legal counsel to various government ministries, Cabinet, and select public entities. We represent the province in all court levels and before specific administrative bodies, managing all facets of mediation, trials, and hearings. Our diverse team operates from multiple locations, collaborating closely to navigate the dynamic landscape of legal challenges. The Role
As a Legal Support Specialist, you will be instrumental in assisting a vibrant legal team within the Litigation Group. Your responsibilities will include providing administrative assistance to legal professionals, which encompasses drafting and organizing legal documents, coordinating meetings and logistics, and preparing for court proceedings. You will also maintain a comprehensive records management system and independently manage various legal matters with minimal oversight. This fast-paced, high-volume position offers the chance to cultivate essential skills and experience a profound sense of achievement as you witness the tangible outcomes of your contributions. Collaborating closely with attorneys and paralegals, you will be part of a team that values learning and professional development.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Completion of secondary education or equivalent, along with a Legal Office Administrative Assistant program from a recognized institution.
  • At least one (1) year of experience utilizing Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of experience in an administrative role within an office environment.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
  • Experience in a litigation context.
  • Familiarity with the BC Supreme Court Civil Rules.
  • Experience using BC Online and/or the BC Registry Application (including Court Services Online, BC Registry Services).

About this Position:
This position is not part of a union.
Flexible work arrangements may be available, allowing for remote work on certain days, subject to an approved telework agreement.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees must be located in BC at the time of employment.
