Position Overview:

The Mustard Seed is on the lookout for a Data Insights Specialist with a background in computer science, data science, statistics, or mathematics. This role is integral to a dedicated team of data experts focused on enhancing and managing systems, processes, and outputs related to client data derived from our various programs and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Address and fulfill statistical inquiries from all departments within The Mustard Seed, ensuring timely follow-ups with relevant stakeholders.
  • Gather and verify monthly program data, ensuring accuracy in reported metrics and addressing any discrepancies with the appropriate parties.
  • Organize, clean, and transform program data to align with established storage protocols, ensuring that calculated statistics are both precise and reflective of program integration.
  • Develop Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports that effectively present program data as performance metrics, adhering to existing design templates while innovating to enhance their impact.
  • Work collaboratively with program leaders to improve data processes, define parameters, enhance trackers, and initiate other projects that refine program data reporting.
  • Document current processes, procedures, and best practices to ensure the long-term sustainability of the department.
  • Support the Director of Quantitative Measurement and Strategy with new storage optimizations, analytical initiatives, process improvements, system features, and other ad hoc requests.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety protocols, including timely reporting of incidents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree in computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, business intelligence, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in basic statistics and mathematics.
  • At least 2 years of experience with data visualization tools (e.g., MS Power BI, Tableau).
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, creative, and eager to learn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-driven, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Outstanding administrative, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with marginalized populations, particularly the homeless, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with other Microsoft tools (e.g., Outlook, SharePoint, PowerApps, Dynamics, Dataverse) is advantageous.
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., VBA, SQL, PHP, jQuery, Python, R) is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Role involves various physical activities including lifting, traveling, and driving.
  • Hybrid work environment with a minimum of two days in the office.
  • Some travel may be necessary.
  • Office setting with extensive periods of sedentary work.
  • Fast-paced and demanding work environment.
