The Role The Human Resources Department serves as a vital partner in our organization, advocating for employees and driving change. Managing the employee experience is essential for organizational success, encompassing everything from onboarding to fostering a positive workplace culture and managing relationships. Our department provides a range of services, including: Accessibility, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Workforce Planning, Diversity, Learning and Development, Job Evaluation and Descriptions, Performance Management, Labour Relations, Wellness, Health and Safety, Compensation and Benefits, and HRIS Systems Management. Under the guidance of the Supervisor of Talent Acquisition, the Human Resources Recruitment Intern will support various recruitment initiatives within the department. This role includes assisting the Talent Acquisition Team with creating and posting job advertisements, coordinating candidate assessments and interviews, preparing employment correspondence, and addressing inquiries regarding recruitment policies and procedures. Additionally, the intern will maintain recruitment-related documentation throughout the hiring process. As needed, the intern may also research best practices in talent acquisition, participate in recruitment events, and provide support to the Human Resources Administration Team by addressing inquiries in person and over the phone. This position is essential in applying fair and equitable recruitment practices to attract qualified candidates for various roles within the City. Education: Currently enrolled in a recognized College or University Co-op program, preferably in Human Resources Management or a related field. Must be at least 16 years old or turning 16 by the end of the calendar year and have attended one of the specified academic institutions during the year of application or plan to return the following year. Experience: Demonstrated experience in customer service and/or administrative roles within an office environment. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: General understanding of HR practices and relevant employment legislation. Ability to communicate information clearly and effectively, exercise discretion with confidential information, and interact courteously with all levels of staff and stakeholders. Capability to interpret and apply policies and procedures, listen actively, and maintain confidentiality in accordance with applicable legislation. Intermediate skills in interpersonal communication, customer service, organization, and time management. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word), HR information systems, interview testing software, and the Internet. Conditions of Employment: Satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required for new employees in accordance with established procedures.
