About the Role

The Low CI Hydrogen Business Director will provide local commercial leadership across government relations, key stakeholder engagement, and overall project permitting and entitlement process activities. This role will take the lead on identifying, developing proposals, and negotiating government funding agreements, working closely with government relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide commercial leadership and input into the business development process to support contract negotiations, project structuring, and financial modeling.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure the facility's commercial readiness and ownership transition.
  • Lead a team accountable for the day-to-day optimization of the facility operation to maximize revenues while ensuring customer and government contract obligations are met.
  • Anticipate future needs of sectors looking to decarbonize through understanding and anticipating evolving carbon policies and provincial hydrogen strategy priorities.
  • Drive the identification, prioritization, engagement, and relationship building with prospective clients to profitably load the asset over its expected lifespan.
Requirements
  • 20+ years of business management or large facility operations management experience.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Business, Engineering. MBA preferred.
  • Track record of identifying and successfully pursuing new opportunities, leading negotiations, writing proposals, structuring complex deals.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canada's regulatory & political landscape driving actions for decarbonization.
  • Ability to develop a solid understanding of the technical aspects of hydrogen feedstock sourcing, production, distribution, and fueling to credibly communicate the advantages of hydrogen to key stakeholders.
  • Experience leading and influencing diverse teams of technical, commercial, and financial professionals.
  • Experience with large capital project development, environmental permitting, and/or regulatory compliance activities, including directly working with government agencies.
  • Excellent leadership, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to use a variety of presentation platforms.
  • Ability to discuss and present highly technical material effectively to non-technical audiences.
