Senior Director, Finance

Reporting to the CEO, the Senior Director, Finance is a key member of the Leadership team responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational direction to the Finance Department, aligned with Ongwanada's strategic objectives and overseeing the execution to deliver desired outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership for all finance activities, including cost and general accounting, budgeting, internal financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, risk management, audit preparation, and external financial reporting.
  • Lead and manage the Finance department, including cost and general accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, audit preparation, and Ministry/funder reporting.
  • Ensure legal risks to the organization are identified and managed.
  • Direct the implementation and maintenance of internal control systems to ensure the security of financial resources.
  • Review, approve, and provide timely financial reporting materials and metrics to Ongwanada Management, Audit and Finance Committee, Board of Directors, Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, and other regulated agencies.
  • Develop operating and capital budgets with the Ministry of Children, Community & Social Services and prepare quarterly variance reports, annual reconciliations, and capital project progress and final reports.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present periodic forecasts to departments, Finance & Property Committee, and the Board of Directors.
Requirements:
  • University degree in Business Administration or Accounting with a strong emphasis on accounting and financial management.
  • Minimum of 5 years' related work experience at a management level.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate staff, capable in applying principles of coaching, mentoring, and performance management effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, follow-up, and accuracy coupled with good analytical skills and solid business acumen.
