Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Underwriter to join our Residential Lending team at First National. As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a critical role in rendering credit decisions on incoming mortgage applications, ensuring adherence to company and insurer policies and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adjudicate mortgage applications within established authority limits, ensuring compliance with policies and guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with mortgage brokers to build loyalty and drive business growth.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external partners, including mortgage insurers, appraisers, title insurance companies, and solicitors.
  • Interact with Mortgage Insurers to complete credit lending decisions.
  • Ensure due diligence is completed prior to signing off on mortgage conditions or documents.
  • Prepare and issue mortgage commitments with appropriate conditions within established service level agreements/turnaround times.
  • Prioritize applications and workflow to ensure consistent and sound risk assessments are maintained, while managing high volumes and a focus on service excellence.
  • Stay current with the latest industry knowledge, competition, and market trends.
Requirements
  • Completed post-secondary education or equivalent work experience.
  • Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment.
