Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Underwriter to join our team at First National. As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will be responsible for rendering credit decisions on incoming applications, ensuring adherence to company and insurer policies and guidelines, while focusing on service excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adjudicate mortgage applications within established authority limits, ensuring adherence to policies and guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with mortgage brokers to build loyalty to the Company.
  • Maintain positive relationships with external partners, including mortgage insurers, appraisers, title insurance companies, and solicitors.
  • Interact with Mortgage Insurers where applicable to complete credit lending decisions.
  • Ensure due diligence has been completed prior to signing off on any mortgage conditions or documents, where applicable.
  • Prepare and issue mortgage commitments with appropriate conditions within established service level agreements/turnaround times.
  • Prioritize applications and workflow to ensure consistent and sound risk assessments are maintained while managing high volumes and a continued focus on service excellence.
  • Stay current with latest industry knowledge, competition, and market trends.
Requirements
  • Completed post-secondary education or equivalent work experience required.
  • Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment required.
