About the Role

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health to join our team. As a key member of our public health leadership team, you will play a critical role in promoting and protecting the health of Nova Scotians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and expertise in the development and implementation of public health policies and programs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address public health issues and concerns.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, community organizations, and government agencies.
  • Provide medical expertise and guidance to support the development of public health policies and programs.
  • Represent the Government of Nova Scotia at national and international forums related to public health.
Requirements
  • Medical degree and licensure to practice medicine in Nova Scotia.
  • Postgraduate training in public health or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role in public health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
