Memory Care Director

Sunrise Senior Living is seeking a skilled Memory Care Manager to lead our reminiscence neighborhood. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for promoting excellence in resident care, developing and implementing programs, and providing support to families.
Key Responsibilities:- Resident Care and Programs:
- Develop and lead the overall operation of the reminiscence neighborhood, ensuring compliance with laws and Sunrise Senior Living standards.
- Champion quality delivery of the Resident Centered model, focusing on creating pleasant days for residents.
- Partner with the Activities and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure individualized activities and programs.
- Design and facilitate the reminiscence program, incorporating resident feedback and preferences.
- Collaborate with the Resident Care Director to address residents' clinical needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Manage the assessment process to determine levels of care and staff requirements.
- Oversee planning for family events and services, ensuring a supportive environment for residents and their families.
- Partner with the dining service coordinator to meet individualized resident needs and preferences.
- Communicate resident changes in condition to relevant stakeholders, ensuring timely interventions.
- Facilitate network contacts and arrange for educational support from community groups.
- Plan and facilitate monthly family support group meetings, promoting a sense of community and connection.
- Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with laws and Sunrise Senior Living standards, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain knowledge of current state/provincial laws and regulations, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Practice safety procedures at all times, prioritizing resident well-being and safety.
- Financial Management:
- Assist in the presentation and value of Sunrise Senior Living's products and services, promoting our unique approach to senior care.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and manage the community budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and accountability.
- Review monthly financial statements, identifying areas for improvement and implementing cost-saving measures.
- Training, Leadership, and Team Member Development:
- Manage the department, including recruiting, hiring, and supervising team members, ensuring a positive and supportive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with all required team member paperwork, maintaining accurate records and files.
- Achieve Team Member Engagement goals, leading in Engagement Improvement Planning and promoting a culture of excellence.
- Conduct timely performance appraisals, providing constructive feedback and coaching to support team member growth and development.
- Maintain compliance with required training, ensuring team members are equipped to provide high-quality care and services.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A college degree, preferably in a field related to gerontology or a related field.
- One year of supervisory experience, including experience in dementia care, with a proven track record of success.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
