About Our Opportunity

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled Policy Analyst to join our team in the Office of Equity and Anti-Racism. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in advancing equity and anti-racism initiatives in Nova Scotia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on policy options related to equity and anti-racism, and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop and implement policy instruments and standards, and consult with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide project management and support to designated projects and initiatives, and develop effective working relationships across various levels and work units.
  • Prepare and coordinate briefing materials and briefing binders for the minister, Deputy, and Premier.
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline, such as project management, policy, or research methods. You will also have:

  • Demonstrated understanding of equity and anti-racism related concepts.
  • Thorough knowledge of the public policy development process and experience in policy analysis.
  • Experience in designing and leading policy analysis projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal communication.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in report writing and preparation of briefing materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative working relationships.
  • Computer skills, including thorough knowledge of software packages such as Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of structure, processes, and key players in Government, as well as knowledge and/or experience within the Nova Scotia legislative environment.
