Job Summary

Strathcona Resources Ltd. is a leading oil and gas production and development company seeking an experienced Senior Data Technologist to join its Business Development Geosciences Team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting data optimization for Geoscience projects, collaborating with talented professionals to continuously improve and innovate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain projects, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Administer and support GIS and Geoscience projects, including data management, visualization, and analysis.
  • Organize and maintain a centralized location for current datasets, ensuring easy accessibility for business units.
  • Clean and integrate project data across applications, improving efficiency and reducing errors.
  • Contribute knowledge to ongoing data management and data science initiatives, driving business growth and innovation.
  • Work with asset team Geotechs to optimize vendor data and company data in their workflows, identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Analyze current workflows to identify areas for improvement, highlighting opportunities for increased efficiency and productivity.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' experience with technical diploma in a related field.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas industry, including resource development, drilling and completions, machine learning techniques, databases, and associated structures.
  • Knowledge of geology, mapping, cross sections, and Python programming considered an asset.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt, be professional, self-motivated, and learn quickly, with a strong focus on problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, geoSCOUT, Petrel, Geographix, Surfer, ArcGIS, QGIS, EVA, Spotfire, and Tableau.
