Overview of the Role

As a Community Living Counsellor, Team Lead, you will be instrumental in supporting the Manager of Staffed Homes by overseeing team dynamics and ensuring high-quality home support services. Your role will involve acting as the primary contact for team members, addressing challenges, and providing guidance to Community Living Counsellors. Collaboration with your team will be essential in delivering impactful and person-centered active support. Key responsibilities include:

  • Empowering individuals to engage fully in their communities
  • Assisting the Manager with administrative and financial responsibilities
  • Inspiring and leading a team of Counsellors
  • Supporting individuals in achieving their personal life goals
  • Performing home support tasks, including personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping
  • Facilitating community outings, such as volunteering and leisure activities
  • Keeping detailed records of daily activities and progress towards goals
  • Mentoring and coaching your team in effective support strategies

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in providing compassionate and consistent support to adults with developmental disabilities, complemented by leadership and management expertise. You are driven by the desire to help individuals succeed in various aspects of their lives, including community participation, skill development, and daily living tasks. Additionally, you will be equipped to meet diverse support needs, including personal care.

Shift Availability:

Permanent Full-time

  • Schedule to be determined

Required Qualifications:

  • Class 5 driver's license (willingness to obtain Class 4 for permanent staff)
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Clear criminal record (cost covered by CLS)
  • Clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant paid or volunteer experience
  • Familiarity with ASL (or willingness to learn)
  • Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
  • Knowledge of the Mandt System
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Understanding of Person-Centered Active Supports
