POSITION SUMMARY

Vertex is seeking applications for an Environmental Emissions Specialist to join our Emissions Management team in Alberta. This role involves supporting both field and office operations under the guidance of the Field Operations Lead - Emissions Management. The successful candidate will engage in on-site evaluations and assessments. We are looking for a proactive individual who thrives in outdoor settings and is willing to undertake extended work periods away from home.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary diploma or higher in Engineering is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal abilities and a positive attitude.
  • Familiarity with provincial and federal environmental regulations is advantageous.
  • Capability to analyze technical data in relation to compliance standards.
  • Adaptability to work under pressure, managing tight deadlines and multiple tasks.
  • Ability to operate independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to engage in both office and fieldwork for extended durations as necessary.
  • Readiness to travel across Western Canada as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the expanding Emissions Management Team through field and office tasks.
  • Conduct on-site assessments of surface casing vent flow and perform necessary testing.
  • Execute gas migration testing on-site, ensuring the absence of methane.
  • Facilitate communication with clients regarding project outcomes.
  • Uphold a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to safety standards and regulations, while identifying potential hazards.
  • Provide daily field reports and maintain clear communication with site personnel and project managers.
  • Engage with plant personnel as instructed.
  • Recognize situations that require the use of appropriate safety equipment.
  • Complete necessary documentation and administrative tasks as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with field staff, client representatives, and management.
  • Stay informed about products and services available to clients.
  • Perform all assigned duties in alignment with Vertex's Core Values.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by supervisors or management.

WORK LOCATION

  • This position is based out of our Calgary or Sherwood Park locations.
