Canada Bimose Tribal Council Inc. Full time

Location: Bimose Tribal Council, Kenora, ON

Overview: The Economic Development Consultant will report directly to the Executive Director and will be responsible for providing expert advisory services to the member First Nations associated with Bimose Tribal Council. This role involves the establishment and enhancement of the Economic Development Program through the formulation, drafting, planning, and execution of economic strategies, business plans, and proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, advise, and facilitate economic development planning initiatives and strategies.
  • Design and cultivate new ventures, businesses, and partnerships with the communities of Bimose Tribal Council that align with First Nation objectives and visions.
  • Oversee the management of assets for Bimose Tribal Council and Kakina Economic Development Group.
  • Assist member First Nations in advancing their economic development efforts.
  • Collaborate with economic development officers from member First Nations to ensure optimal coordination of federal and provincial funding programs.
  • Support First Nation businesses and community members as directed by leadership in maintaining existing enterprises by providing technical and business management services.
  • Facilitate support for community economic and development initiatives.
  • Assist First Nation membership in developing resource management strategies.
  • Exhibit flexibility in working hours as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in Business, Commerce, Business Development, or Administration. Relevant work experience in commerce and/or finance is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and business skills.
  • Familiarity with First Nation culture and Anishinaabemowin is advantageous.
  • Possession of a valid class G driver's license and willingness to travel.
  • A criminal records check is mandatory.

Compensation: $80,000-$95,000 based on education and experience.
