With community housing providers and all levels of government’s increased involvement in solving the housing crisis driving demand for affordable housing solutions, SHS Consulting is expanding. They are seeking an experienced Senior Analyst, Housing Economics and Real Estate, to join their team and support their growth into the future.


The Position

As part of SHS Consulting's Policy and Research practice, the Senior Analyst, Housing Economics and Real Estate will lead the analysis and interpretation of housing market data across national, provincial, and local levels. Conducting thorough demographic, economic, and market analyses, they will develop insightful models, forecasts, and financial assessments for clients.


The Senior Analyst will play a key role in shaping housing policies and programs, contributing to municipal affordable housing strategies, and using advanced financial models to assess policy feasibility. Their responsibilities will include designing surveys, conducting interviews, and presenting findings to stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of insights through comprehensive reports and strategic advice.


We are seeking candidates with strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of economic and statistical principles, and excellent verbal and written communication and organizational abilities. This position offers the opportunity to influence critical housing policy decisions while working collaboratively within a supportive team environment.


Position Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in economics, real estate, statistics, business, public policy, or related field; graduate-level preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience demonstrating strong research and analytical skills in gathering, analyzing demographic, economic, and financial data, and using critical thinking to draw conclusions.
  • Proven track record of analyzing large datasets, crafting data-driven narratives for decision-making, and presenting evidence-based findings clearly.
  • Strong understanding of economic and real estate analysis, including modeling, data sources, and visualization, with knowledge of municipal public finance.
  • Sound analytical thinking, problem-solving, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Ability to develop and refine financial models for impact analysis and policy development, with experience in policy development being an asset.
  • Familiarity with economic analysis principles, including forecasting, and knowledge of the housing sector and government programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative and positive attitude.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for creating infographics and presentations. Advanced expertise in Excel, including complex data analysis, financial modelling and dynamic dashboard creation required.
  • High level of accountability, dependability, and effective time management skills.


Location

This is a hybrid position requiring 2 days per month in the office located at 77 Bloor St West, Toronto and occasional travel to client sites in the GTA.
