Mathematics Course Instructor

Course Overview:
This course delves into essential mathematical principles and competencies crucial for excelling in introductory university-level Math and Science subjects. Participants will enhance their quantitative reasoning skills necessary for evaluating arguments and making informed decisions, while also acquiring a comprehensive understanding of functions that illustrate relationships. The curriculum emphasizes various representations of each topic, fostering connections, and interactive workshop sessions allow students to reinforce the skills they acquire.
Instructor Role:
We are seeking an instructor for the upcoming winter semester.
Expected Class Size:
15 students
Class Timetable:
Monday 10 am - 12 pm
Thursday 10 am - 11 am
Thursday 11 am - 12 pm (Tutorial)
*Currently, this course is set to be delivered in person. Please be aware that the mode of delivery may be adjusted based on the Faculty or Department's guidelines.
Appointment Duration:
January to April
Compensation (pro-rated for 50% appointment):
SL1: $18,915.79, including vacation pay
SL1 Long Term: $19,861.58, including vacation pay
SL2: $20,243.53, including vacation pay
SL2 Long Term: $20,653.23, including vacation pay
SL3: $20,725.52, including vacation pay
SL3 Long Term: $21,140.03, including vacation pay
Please note that if the rates specified in the collective agreement differ from those stated here, the collective agreement rates will take precedence.
Essential Qualifications:
A Master's Degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field is required.
Experience in graduate studies in a relevant area, along with teaching experience at the university level and a proven track record in academic skills development, is essential.
Desirable Qualifications:
A Ph.D. and experience teaching in university-level access programs, such as Woodsworth's Academic Bridging Program, are preferred.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities include designing, preparing, and delivering course content, conducting lectures; developing and administering assignments, tests, and examinations; grading student submissions and reporting grades to the College in accordance with established policies; collaborating with instructors of other courses for full-time ABP Science Option students; maintaining reasonable hours for student consultations outside scheduled class times; and utilizing Quercus (the web-based course management system) for communicating grades, announcements, course materials, and academic resources online.
Teaching Assistant Support:
Approximately 80 hours for the combined Fall and Winter terms.
