As a pivotal member of the Civil & Infrastructure division at Pomerleau, you will play a critical role in steering project development and setting new benchmarks in the industry through your extensive expertise. Your leadership will be essential in managing large-scale civil and infrastructure projects, with values ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion, while guiding our estimating team and collaborating with various stakeholders to secure successful bids.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take charge of the preconstruction phase, overseeing bidding processes, cost evaluations, and budget assessments;
  • Facilitate transparent communication regarding project progress and updates;
  • Provide estimating insights and collaborate with the leadership team;
  • Contribute to business development initiatives;
  • Lead presentations for proposals and estimates, both internally and externally;
  • Employ your research acumen to ascertain project-specific costs for essential components such as labor, equipment, and materials;
  • Meticulously analyze technical specifications to interpret bid documents accurately;
  • Review project business strategies with internal teams to ensure financial viability;
  • Assist in the complete estimating cycle, applying your detail-oriented approach for thorough final estimate reviews;
  • Expertly identify project risks and manage them effectively;
  • Maintain a focus on client pricing requirements to guarantee estimate precision;
  • Foster and sustain robust relationships with trade partners, consultants, and clients to meet project objectives;
  • Encourage innovative thinking within your team to develop creative solutions;
  • Inspire excellence by leading through example, promoting professional growth, and leveraging the strengths of each team member;
  • Promote a culture of learning, sharing your expertise, and serving as a mentor throughout the estimating process;

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in estimating within the Civil & Infrastructure construction sector;
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related technical field, or a combination of education and industry experience;
  • A demonstrated history of managing estimates and bids, alongside effective team collaboration;
  • Capability to bid on projects ranging from $1 million to over $200 million;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • A strong passion for building and nurturing relationships;
  • Proficient in estimation software and a keen interest in innovative practices;
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Western Canadian market.
